چکیده
Background and Objectives The aim of this study was to identify the frequency indicators National Health Insurance (NHI) coverage for positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy investigate changes in patients receiving PAP after alterations were made insurance benefit standards mild obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).Subjects Method We divided OSA into two groups according altered categorization (Mild1: 5≤AHI<10; Mild2: 10≤AHI<15). Eight related NHI identified: four symptoms, three complications, minimal blood oxygen saturation during polysomnography (min SpO2) ≤85% polysomnography. also investigated change number benefits under standards. Results Of 233 patients, 66, 57, 110 diagnosed as mild, moderate severe OSA, respectively. For all them, most common indicator minimum SpO2 less than 85% polysomnography, second daytime sleepiness. In group, however, sleepiness found be indicator, 46 (70%) followed by 38 (58%) with min 85%. 59 (89.4%) would have been benefited before whereas 51 (77.3%) now changed standards. Conclusion Daytime commonly observed patients. significantly decreased

Factors Affecting Patients’ Adherence to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Therapy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea Disorder: A Multi-Method Approach
Background: Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the gold standard therapy for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) disorder. However, patients’ adherence to its regular use is poor. The present study aimed to determine the adherence rate to CPAP therapy by identifying factors affecting its regular use and its associated problems and discomforts among a sample population in Mashhad (...

Positive airway pressure (PAP) is considered first-line therapy for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea and may also be considered for mild obstructive sleep apnea, particularly if it is symptomatic or there are concomitant cardiovascular disorders. Continuous PAP is most commonly used. Other modes, such as bilevel airway pressure, autotitrating positive airway pressure, average volume a...

BACKGROUND Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy is an efficacious treatment for patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, there are only few data on long-term adherence. The aim of this study is to quantify the extent of non-adherence and describe the clinical characteristics. METHODS A retrospective study including 695 patients with newly diagnosed OSA and...

Objective. To determine predictors of patient adherence to CPAP. Design. A retrospective chart review identified patients with AHI values greater than 15 who were recommended to receive CPAP. Compliance was measured at a 1-to 4-month interval and at 1 year. Results. There were 106 of 368 (29%) patients who received CPAP therapy that were compliant with CPAP use at 1 to 4 months. Forty-six patie...

Left untreated, this situatio...
